If you have been following the news about Ponte Vedra Beach, you have no doubt heard there was widespread destruction in the wake of hurricane Irma.
Don’t believe everything you see on TV. Yes Irma paid a visit to our shoreline. Yes, she did have an impact, but the reality is most of the damage in most of Ponte Vedra Beach has been vastly overblown. We did have temporary loss of power for some. In my part of Sawgrass Country Club, we had power, internet and cable throughout. Every subdivision did have some trees down. We did have minor flooding in some areas. BUT, we did not have massive life threatening results.
Such was not the case in Jacksonville. There was massive flooding along the river. As a result, some homes did incur serious damage, and most homes were without power for at least a week.
As you move down the coast from Ponte Vedra Beach proper, there was significant beach erosion to the point that a couple of homes were destroyed.
Ponte Vedra Beach proper is still paradise and is up and running.
